Before you can legally start to drive - Get your Provisional Licence.
1. You must have a Provisional Driving Licence. You need to get an "Application for a Driving Licence " form, D1 from a Post Office or you can do it all on line. (You can apply for a Provisional Driving Licence 3 months prior to your 17th birthday, so when you receive it, it will be valid from your 17th birthday). There is a fee payable currently £50 at 11/2/2009. The requirements are set out in two leaflets accompanying the application form D100.
2. You are ready to start driving, but it is not advisable to start straight away with parents, friends or partners as bad habits will immediately be transferred. If you do, make sure you are insured to drive. Book in with a professional, trained teacher and bring both parts of your licence and any glasses or contact lenses as we will first check that you can read a number plate at 20.5m. We operate a price promise; if your first lesson is not really enjoyed you will not have to pay for it.
